Misty began her career in 1994 as an orthopedic oncology medical assistant. This introduction to the healthcare profession coupled with her passion of caring for the wellbeing of others, inspired her to earn a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Langston University. After earning her undergraduate in 2002, she joined the oncology unit at St. John Medical Center as a floor nurse, where she worked for three consecutive years. To broaden her scope of practice she transferred to the emergency department at St. John Medical Center where she worked as a unit nurse for three years. While working in the emergency department, Misty earned her Masters of Science in nursing from the University of Oklahoma in 2008.
She is certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. As a Nurse Practitioner, Misty has worked for St. John’s Medical Center in an urgent and emergency care setting, Cancer Treatment Centers of America and in a private healthcare clinic.
Misty’s specialty is developing symptom management plans that aid in supporting patients at each stage of their care. She will be working collaboratively with the oncologist to deliver care to patients who are undergoing active treatment and caring for patients who have completed treatment that are being monitored for recurrence.
